
Home Economics
The Home Economics module is designed to provide students with practical skills and knowledge related to managing and improving daily life in the home. This module covers a wide range of topics, including food and nutrition, personal finance, clothing and textiles, and home management, all of which are essential for fostering responsible, sustainable living.
Students will learn the fundamentals of food preparation, cooking techniques, and meal planning, emphasizing nutrition and healthy eating habits. The module explores the importance of budgeting and personal finance management, helping students understand how to manage household expenses, save money, and make informed financial decisions.
Additionally, the module covers basic sewing and garment construction, teaching students how to make, repair, and maintain clothing. They will also explore topics related to home organization, cleaning, and the overall management of household tasks to create a functional and comfortable living environment.
Through hands-on activities, practical lessons, and real-life applications, students will gain the skills necessary to care for themselves and their families, as well as contribute to the efficient and effective running of a home. The module also promotes values such as sustainability, resourcefulness, and creativity in household management.
By the end of the Home Economics module, students will be well-equipped with the knowledge and skills to handle a wide variety of tasks in home management, cooking, sewing, and financial planning, preparing them for independent living and future responsibilities.
